Lack of online access and the lack of skill-set to utilize online resources for teaching are the two important factors impeding online teaching in African Continent despite the availability of the resources, free of charge, on the internet. Despite having a solution in online teaching to minimize the effect of COVID-19’s on education, its note worthy that the solution is not available to every educator, learner and school. E-teaching and learning has emerged as a solution to minimizing disruption to education until life returns to normalcy. Rather, this is the time to embrace different and flexible methods of teaching, and by extension learning, as we comply with social distancing and self-isolation. So this is not the time to stop education process just by school closure as it is only education that can produce man power and professionals needed to match the demand of COVID-19 pandemic time. COVID_19 pandemics has placed urgent global needs for skilled workers with abilities to work under abnormal conditions with little or no personal contact to deliver health care, manufacture special medications, produce goods and deliver services required for our survival. No one is sure how long the pandemic will last, but it is foreseen to have far reaching consequences than 2009 swine flu outbreak in the UK, flu pandemic in 1968 influenza pandemic of 19-1919 Ebola Disease of 2005 or any other infectious diseases previously experienced.

This paper reviews and evaluates twenty-two (22) remote attendance teaching resources, their special features and system requirements. In developing countries, especially across Africa, lack of awareness of the existing online teaching resources and their suitability for remote attendance teaching and lack of skill sets required for using the resources are the issues impeding online teaching. Despite having a solution in online teaching to reduce the effect of COVID-19 on education, it’s noteworthy that the solution is not available to every educator, learner and school, especially in developing countries. Therefore, e-teaching and e-learning have emerged as complementary solutions that reduce disruption to educational activities. Thus, more than ever, COVID-19 has now emphasized the necessity to embrace different and flexible methods of teaching and, by extension, learning. Therefore, the teaching and learning process should also adapt to the new normal, which includes suitable social distancing, self-isolation and other disruptive guidelines outlined by the World Health Organization. At the time of writing, the duration of the current pandemic cannot be ascertained.
